日本人アーティスト、西村有による作品集。作者の名を冠したこの作品集は、2016年から2024年までに制作された作品を探る初の英語版刊行物であり、透き通るようなフィギュレーションから風光明媚な風景画まで幅広く紹介する一冊である。
日常の何気ないかけらを透明感のあるタッチで繊細に描く作者は、2025年に「デイヴィッド・ツヴィルナー（David Zwirner）」に所属したことでより広く世界にその名が知られ、同年4月から6月に同ギャラリーで初個展も開催している。これまでにも「ロサンゼルス・カウンティ美術館（Los Angeles County Museum of Art）」、「ジョルジュ・ポンピドゥー国立芸術文化センター（Centre national d’art et de culture Georges Pompidou (CNAC-GP)」、「金沢21世紀美術館」に作品が所蔵されている。
本書には、絵画にインスピレーションを与えてきた自身で撮影した写真、作家であるアレクシス・ヴァイヤン（Alexis Vaillant）とファブリス・エルゴット（Fabrice Hergot）による寄稿、そしてアーティストのジョナス・ウッド（Jonas Wood）との対談も収録され、作品の機微な揺らぎが装丁や本文の紙の特性にも反映されている。
The eponymous monograph of Japanese artist Yu Nishimura is the first English-language publication to survey the artist’s works from 2016 to 2024, featuring his lucid figuration to scenic landscapes.
The book includes Nishimura’s own photographs which inspired his paintings, two texts by the writers Alexis Vaillant and Fabrice Hergott and a conversation with the artist Jonas Wood.
