『Sketchbook II (A Midsummer Night's Dream)』では、アメリカ合衆国やドイツで活躍したユダヤ系オーストリア人映画監督、マックス・ラインハルト（Max Reinhardt）が1935年に製作した映画「A Midsummer Night’s Dream」からインスピレーションを得ている。2020年の夏に、この象徴的な名作を再演しようという熱烈なアイデアがほんのわずかにあった。最初のページは、映画への直接的な言及、あるいは将来の制作のためのメモとして読めるが、このような具体的なアプローチは、次のページではすぐに消えてしまい、イラストの要素は、「A Midsummer Night’s Dream」というタイトルの下で、いつでも、どこでも、何でも、自由に連想できるようになっていった。

the sketchbooks were designed first as objects, and then filled with process.

Sketchbook II (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), was inspired by Max Reinhardt’s film, A Midsummer Night’s Dream from 1935. For a brief moment there were vehement ideas to re-stage the iconic masterpiece during the summer of 2020. As the first pages could almost be read as direct references to the film or notes for future productions, this tangible approach quickly evaporates from the following pages and the illustrative elements gradually fade into free assocaitions to just about anything, anytime, anywhere, under the title “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. These two facsimiles are the first in a series of five, with the remaining sketchbooks due out in the coming months.
