Oh So Pretty: Punk in Print 1976-80 presents a collection of ephemera from Britain’s punk subculture curated from The Mott Collection. The publication is a compelling visual portrait of a time, place and attitude that raised a middle finger to society, containing over five hundred original artefacts including zines, gig posters, flyers and badges from both obscure and well-known musical acts, designers, venues and related political groups.
Whilst punk was first and foremost a musical phenomenon, its instantly recognizable aesthetic was as raw, strident and irrepressible as its music. The disposable ephemera preserved and celebrated in this book tell a story about music, history, class and art, documenting a seismic shift in British society and visual culture.
