前立ては裾までボタンで開閉でき、ボタンは赤・黄・カーキとあえて色を揃えずに留めつけてあるのもユニークです。
ウエストの切り替えから下はギャザーで広がり、全体はゆったりとしたシルエット。素材はインド綿らしい軽く柔らかな平織りのコットンで、肌当たりが涼しい一枚です。
April Cornell は1975年にカナダ・モントリオールで生まれたブランドで、1992年以降はデリー近郊の自社工場でインド綿を用いた花柄プリントの服やリネンを手がけています。
本作の「April Cornell for Cornell Trading」ラベルは、主に1990年代に使われた仕様です。
A sleeveless long dress pieced together from yellow, green and red florals arranged in panels. The front buttons open the full length of the dress, with the buttons themselves left deliberately unmatched—red, yellow and khaki—a nice touch. Below the waist seam the skirt falls into soft gathers for a loose, relaxed shape. The fabric is a light, soft plain-weave Indian cotton, cool and easy against the skin.
April Cornell began in Montreal, Canada, in 1975, and from 1992 has made its floral-print clothing and linens at its own factory near Delhi using Indian cotton. The "April Cornell for Cornell Trading" label seen here was used mainly through the 1990s.
